Navigating Life with ADHD: Insights from My Two-Year Journey

Two years ago, my life took a pivotal turn when I was diagnosed with ADHD.  What began as a struggle with anxiety and an inability to find structure in my daily life gradually led to a deeper understanding of my own mind.  This journey has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and invaluable lessons.  From completing my degree with first-class honours to embarking on a new career path as an ADHD life coach, I have discovered a newfound sense of happiness and purpose.  In this blog post, I will share my experiences over the past two years, highlighting the transformative impact of my ADHD diagnosis and the path it has paved for my future.
The Struggle Before Diagnosis
Before my ADHD diagnosis, life often felt like an uphill battle.  I experienced anxiety and depression, and I often found myself overwhelmed by the demands of daily life.  Leaving work to focus on my studies only heightened my struggle to create structure and routine.  My challenges with procrastination frustrated me, especially when attempting to study for my degree.  The arrival of a new puppy added to the chaos.  It was during this time that I began to suspect that ADHD might be at the root of my challenges.  The realization was both daunting and liberating, as it offered a potential explanation for the difficulties I had faced for so long.
Seeking Answers and Finding Support
Determined to gain clarity, I pursued a private diagnosis.  The confirmation of ADHD was a turning point, offering both relief and new challenges.  With a diagnosis in hand, I was able to access support for my degree, which proved to be a game-changer.  Medication provided a sense of focus and calm that had previously eluded me, allowing me to approach my studies with renewed vigour.  Additionally, I sought the guidance of an ADHD coach, whose insights and strategies were instrumental in helping me navigate my academic and personal life.  Another key area of support has come from finding my ‘tribe’!  I have made new friends who also have ADHD and have also discovered that at least one close friend strongly suspects she has ADHD.  This gives us a connection which is hard to describe.
The Power of ADHD Coaching
ADHD coaching became a cornerstone of my journey, offering tailored strategies and support that addressed my unique needs.  Through coaching, I learned to harness my strengths, manage my time effectively, and create a structured environment that supported my goals.  The personalised approach of ADHD coaching empowered me to overcome obstacles and achieve success in ways I had never imagined possible.  This experience not only helped me complete my degree but also sparked a desire to help others facing similar challenges.
Achieving Academic Success
In July, I proudly graduated with a first-class honours degree, a testament to the hard work and perseverance that defined my journey.  This achievement was not just an academic milestone; it was a personal victory that symbolised my ability to overcome the barriers that ADHD had placed in my path.  The support I received, both from medication and coaching, played a crucial role in this success, and I emerged from the experience with a newfound confidence in my abilities.
A New Path: Training as an ADHD Life Coach
Inspired by the transformative impact of ADHD coaching on my own life, I decided to explore the possibility of becoming an ADHD life coach myself.  The decision to train in this field was driven by a desire to share the insights and strategies that had been so beneficial to me.  Through my training, I have gained a deeper understanding of ADHD, and the tools needed to support others.  This journey has been incredibly rewarding, offering a sense of purpose and fulfilment that I had long been searching for.
Building a Business and Embracing Happiness
With my degree completed and my training underway, I am now focused on setting up my ADHD life coaching business.  This new venture represents a fresh chapter in my life, one that is filled with excitement and possibility.  The process of building my business has been both challenging and exhilarating, as I work to create a supportive and empowering environment for my future clients.   As I embrace this new path, I find myself happier and more content than ever before, with a clear vision of the impact I hope to make.  I still have my difficult days, but I just need to remind myself that I know what helps me, and what support I need.
Reflecting on the past two years, I am struck by the profound changes that have taken place in my life.  My ADHD diagnosis was the catalyst for a journey of self-discovery and growth, leading me to academic success and a fulfilling new career.  While the path has not always been easy, the support and strategies I have gained have been invaluable.  As I continue to build my ADHD life coaching business, I am excited to share my experiences and help others navigate their own journeys.  The future is bright, and I am grateful for the opportunities that lie ahead.
